Jaws (Former Ride)

Jaws was a boat ride at Universal Studios Florida themed to Steven Spielberg's 1975 shark thriller, in which guests cruised through Amity Harbor before being menaced by a mechanical great white shark. It opened with the park in 1990 as one of Universal Orlando's original headline attractions. Technical problems dogged the ride's first year, and it was rebuilt and relaunched in 1993. It closed permanently on 2 January 2012 and its site was redeveloped for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter; a shark model survives as a photo spot in the park's San Francisco area.
