Mark Twain Riverboat

Mark Twain Riverboat is a paddle-wheel steamboat that carries guests on a scenic circuit of the Rivers of America in Disneyland's Frontierland, styled after 19th-century Mississippi riverboats. It opened with Disneyland on 17 July 1955 and was promoted at the time as the first paddle wheeler built in the United States in 50 years. Its 105-foot hull was built at Todd Shipyards in San Pedro, California, while the ornate superstructure was built on a soundstage at the Disney Studio in Burbank and trucked to the park. Walt Disney had envisaged a Mississippi-style steamboat for the Rivers of America from the earliest planning stages.
