Niagara

Niagara is a Shoot-the-Chute in the Canada area of Bellewaerde Park in Ypres, Belgium. It was built by Interlink and opened in 1995, when it was billed as the highest splash ride in Europe. The theming refers to the Niagara Falls.

The ride is 240 metres long and 20 metres high, and a trip lasts about three minutes and 45 seconds. Four boats are available, with a maximum of three in the channel at once; each boat seats 20 people in five rows of four, without restraints, giving a capacity of about 1,200 riders per hour. One boat used to have a perspex roof for guests who preferred to stay dry; today only open boats run, apart from a covered boat used during Halloween.

Onlookers often get wetter than the riders: after the drop the boats send a large wave towards the bridge crossing the channel, where a glass screen lets spectators watch the wave up close and stay dry. Riders must be at least 120 cm tall; children between 90 and 120 cm must be accompanied by an adult.
