Piraten in Batavia

Piraten in Batavia is a water dark ride at Europa-Park in Rust, Germany, built in 1987 by Mack Rides, whose owners also own the park. The building sits between the Dutch and Scandinavian themed areas, with a brick facade on the Dutch side and Scandinavian timber styling on the other.

The story is set in 17th-century Batavia, today's Jakarta, during the Dutch colonial period, and follows a pirate raid on the town. Boats leave a first-floor station and drop down a waterfall into a battle scene where a pirate ship bombards a Dutch fort, then pass through the fort wall into the city itself: plundering pirates, a jungle temple, the burning town, a fishing village and a prison, ending at a show stage beside the Bamboe Baai restaurant.

The roughly 3,800 m2 layout is 400 metres long with a 5-metre drop, runs 17 boats of 16 riders at an average 2.9 km/h and carries up to 1,800 riders per hour, for a ride of about eight minutes. A major fire destroyed the attraction in May 2018; it was rebuilt and reopened on 28 July 2020.
