Sailing Ship Columbia

Sailing Ship Columbia is a full-scale replica of an 18th-century American merchant sailing ship that cruises Disneyland's Rivers of America in Frontierland, carrying up to 300 guests on a voyage of around 12 minutes. It opened on 14 June 1958, built by Todd Shipyards with input from Disney's designers and retired navy admiral Joe Fowler, Disneyland's construction supervisor. A below-decks exhibit recreating an 18th-century seaman's quarters opened on 22 February 1964. The ship is named after the Columbia Rediviva, the first American vessel to sail around the world, and by night it is transformed into the Black Pearl for the Fantasmic! show.
