Storybook Land Canal Boats

Storybook Land Canal Boats is a slow boat ride in which guests are piloted through the mouth of Monstro the Whale into a Fantasyland waterway lined with hand-crafted miniature villages and landmarks from Disney animated films. A boat attraction called the Canal Boats of the World ran on the site from Disneyland's opening day, 17 July 1955, but closed soon afterwards for retooling. It reopened in its current storybook form on 16 June 1956 after a park-wide improvement effort personally supervised by Walt Disney. A 1994 renovation removed the Toad Hall scene and added miniature settings from Aladdin and The Little Mermaid.
