Tønnevirvel opened on 30 June 2022 in the Frigg Tempel area of Rulantica, Europa-Park's water world in Rust — the first Twist 'n Splash worldwide to be installed in a water park, and Rulantica's first fully mechanical ride. Nine barrel boats for up to six riders spin on three underwater platforms inside a stone circle themed as an ancient Nordic place of worship. In 2024 the ride was enclosed in a new building so it can operate year-round, reopening on 6 December 2024. Announced under the working name Heligvända.
