Water Chute
Blackpool Pleasure Beach· Blackpool, United Kingdom
The original Water Chute arrived for the 1907 season alongside the Scenic Railway, and the two giants showed how ambitious the young Pleasure Beach had become. Flat-bottomed boats were hauled to the top of a tall structure and sent sliding down into a shallow pool, where a gondolier punted them back to the shore.
It became one of the most photographed rides in Edwardian Blackpool and ran until 1933. Decades later the name returned to the park on a very different ride, the circular water chute that later became Vikingar.
